Full-time exempt professional fundraising position responsible for the identification and cultivation of planned gift prospects and solicitation of planned gifts available immediately. Markets tax deferred giving methods using comprehensive estate and financial planning. Coordinates with and assists other Foundation volunteers, ASHRAE staff and ASHRAE volunteers in the development of planned gifts. Extensive travel required. Bachelor's degree required. Candidates must have working knowledge of Gift Planning vehicles (i.e. estate planning, life insurance, unitrusts, etc.) and Raiser's Edge software. Confidentiality is very important. The essential functions of this position will include:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the mission of the ASHRAE Foundation as it relates to the educational, research and service goals of the Society with the ability to communicate the needs and priorities.
- Administer the Gift Planning program and manage one assistant.
- Proactively develop prospects having an interest in and potential for planned gifts and to follow up on contacts developed by mail and by others.
- Service existing donors by maintaining strong relationships on regular basis.
- Develop strategies and direct all Gift Planning publications.
- Work with all professional staff in the interfacing of Gift Planning and ongoing fund raising programs.
- Arrange for ongoing continuing education of ASHRAE members in the areas of Gift Planning and estate planning.
- Assist in the administration of trust agreements.
- Correspond with Members, Companies and donors.
- Develop an understanding of the ASHRAE Foundation's programs, policies and objectives.
- Participate in Foundation activities (i.e. meetings of the Board of Trustees, campaign events, Heritage Club activities, etc.)
- Extensive travel (75%) required for the solicitation and relationship building of current and potential donors.
