Buildings and Appliances Task Force (BATF) of the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (APP)

BATF has been tasked with developing an Action Plan for projects that involve buildings and appliance technologies.  The BATF has decided to focus initially on opportunities in three areas related to appliances (harmonizing test procedures for energy-using appliances and equipment, reducing the use of standby power, and market transformation) and five related to buildings (certification, improvements to existing buildings, codes, high-performance design, and financing). The APP partners—Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the United States—have agreed to work together and with private sector partners to meet goals for energy security, national air pollution reduction, and climate change in ways that promote sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.  ASHRAE serves as an observer to this process.
