Lucas B. Hyman, P.E., LEED AP
Lucas B. Hyman, P.E., LEED AP is currently President of Goss Engineering, Inc, a consulting firm he helped found some 17 years ago, which provides district energy (central plants, CHP, TES, distribution systems) and laboratory/building HVAC planning, design, and commissioning services. Lucas began his career at the age of 17 as a power plant operator with the U.S. Navy before obtaining his mechanical engineering degree, and now has some 30 years of experience with the planning and design of public and private facilities. As a registered professional engineer in 7 states, Lucas has had the opportunity to plan and design more than 100 district energy project to date, and has received numerous ASHRAE project awards. Lucas is also the author of “Sustainable Thermal Storage Systems (publication Aug. 2011)” and co-author of “Sustainable On-site CHP Systems,” published by McGraw-Hill and has also written more than 10 engineering articles on CHP, TES, and solving distribution system challenges. Lucas is also the past president of the Tri-County ASHRAE chapter and was awarded the Presidential Award of Excellence. Lucas is a member of ASHRAE’s District Energy, Cogeneration, and Thermal Storage (Chair) technical committees.
