NYSERDA/ASHRAE Data Center
Energy Efficiency Workshop

Print This  Email This

 Attend a free NYSERDA/ASHRAE workshop
to learn how you can reduce data center energy use by up to 75%

Data center energy usage in New York State is estimated to be 4.5 billion kW-hrs resulting in an estimated energy cost of $593 million annually.  As a consequence, governmental agencies and utility companies are promoting use of energy efficient datacom equipment and best practices.

ASHRAE, in collaboration with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), will present two full-day workshops in Albany and New York City, focusing on thermal guidelines for data processing, datacom facility energy efficiency, high density data centers, and contamination in datacom environments. The workshops are led by instructors who are data center authorities and are active in ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9, Mission Critical Facilities, Technology Spaces and Electronic Equipment.

Because of the importance of reducing New York State’s energy use and the opportunities for savings that can be achieved through improved datacom center design and operation, NYSERDA and ASHRAE are funding these seminars. The workshops expand from the 2008 NYSERDA/ASHRAE workshops, with 25% new material added. Preference is given to customers of New York State utilities.

The workshops are intended for individuals who work, or expect to work for clients in improving the energy efficiency of data centers in New York State. There is no registration fee, but attendees must register in advance. You need not be a member of ASHRAE to participate. Space is limited.

All attendees will also receive at no cost four ASHRAE design manuals, at a value of nearly $250.
