ASHRAE 2008 Annual Meeting General Tours

Historic Park City

Sunday, June 22
11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Located in the Wasatch Mountains, Park City boasts a rich history and wonderful shopping. This 5-hour tour starts with the sights and sounds of historic Main Street, where the Old West comes back to life. It features the saloon where 101 murders were took place, the gravesite of the “Silver Queen” who was known as the “richest woman in these parts,” and the legendary silver mines. Next visit the shops, which boast everything from handmade furniture, books and sportswear to art collectibles, one-of-a-kinds, and Western antiques. Tour does not include lunch.
Cost:  $49 per person

Hiking or Mountain Bike Tour

Sunday, June 22
Noon-5 p.m.

This three-hour professionally guided bike tour and/or hiking tour in Park City provides participants with mild to intermediate trail riding or hiking terrain.  The tour features excellent views of Historic Park City and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. Tour includes transportation to and from Salt Lake City, mountain bike rental, helmet, lunch, and professional guides. Add approximately one hour travel time each way to and from Park City, for a total of five hours. Guests are encouraged to bring their own helmets, personal bike clothes, shoes, gloves, equipment, cameras and sunscreen. Guides are provided for both tours.
Cost: Bike Tour $96.00 per person and includes lunch
Cost: Hiking Tour $81 per person and includes lunch

Family History Library

Monday, June 23
8-10 a.m. and 10 a.m.-noon

Since it was established in 1894, the Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has become the largest of its kind in the world.  The library has collected millions of microfilms, thousands of microfiche and books, and many other records.  The tour features an orientation and question and answer session followed by a computer lab experience.  Attendees receive a hands-on experience searching their family history with personal assistance from the library staff. This is a walking tour, please wear appropriate footwear.
Cost:  $10. Cost includes pre-ordering of admission.
**Note:   Free tours are offered all day long starting at 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday thru Saturday except on Sunday.  The library closes at 5 p.m. Mondays.  Tours are limited in capacity.

Kennecott Copper Tour

Monday, June 23
8-11 a.m.

Observe the Bingham Canyon Mine, the largest man made excavation on earth, watching 240- and 320-ton capacity haulage trucks deliver copper ore to the in-pit crusher.  Five mile conveyer carries ore to the Copperton concentrator.  A visitor center has historic photos, interactive exhibits and a short video presentation.
Cost: $40 per person.

Snowbird Ski Resort

Tuesday, June 24
8 a.m.-1 p.m.

First opened in 1971, Snowbird’s Aerial tram whisks passengers along a 1.6 mile cable and up 2,900 vertical feet during the 10-minute trip to the top of Hidden Peak. Tram riders can look toward Alta and down into the Salt Lake Valley while passing over thousands of wildflowers and mountainsides of green. There is no more spectacular vista in the Rockies than the view from atop Hidden Peak. The round trip can be done in 40 minutes, including about 20 minutes of sightseeing on Hidden Peak, but guests may spend as long on the peak as they wish. Cost: $40 per person and includes a ticket for the tram
