Seminar 2: ASHRAE's Guidance on Building Health and Safety Under Extraordinary Incidents
The Homeland Security Ad-Hoc Committee held Seminar 2 on Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Orlando, titled "ASHRAE’s Guidance on Building Health and Safety Under Extraordinary Incidents: Lessons Learned." The presentations are in PDF. Two years have elapsed since publication of ASHRAE’s Risk Management Guidance for Health, Safety and Environmental Security under Extraordinary Incidents. This seminar explored lessons learned about the impact on building design, standards development, constructability and maintainability, control technology, and building operations and preparedness. The lessons focused on the effectiveness of the guidance on risk management; identification of infrastructure support, constraints and vulnerabilities; new building design; and protection and preparedness in existing buildings. Gaps in the guidance were explored and new information introduced. |
