The E.K. Campbell Award

The Club:

    (a) Sponsors an annual award, known as the "E.K. Campbell Award," to a deserving full-time educatior, who is an ASHRAE Member in good standing, and who is assoicated with a recognized institution of learning; to offer encouragement to teach the subjects covered by the Profession and Industry as related to the Amerinca Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioing Engineers.

    (b) Provides periodic Grants-in-Aid, or scholarships, to deserving students in the field of our interest.

    (c)Provides Bursaries annually to Canadian students in the field of our interest.

The E.K. Campbell Award of Merit

This award is made, not more than once a year, to someone who is or has been a full-time educator in recognition of outstanding service and achievement in teaching and/or research in subjects relating to the industry and professions represented by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Enginers (ASHRAE).

The recipient must be an ASHRAE member in good standing who is associated with an institution of learning and teaches courses in heating, ventilating, air-conditioning or refrigeration at the graduate and/or undergraduate level in an engineering or engineering technology program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Nominations are made by the Awards Committee to the Life Members Club (LME) Executive Board, and subsequently submitted to the Honors and Awards Committee of ASHRAE for approval by the ASHRAE Board of Directors. The 2006-2007 year Chair of the Awards Committee is Professor Margaret Drake, E-mail: drake.5@osu.edu.

The award, funded by contributions from individual members of the LMC, consists of a plaque and an honorarium in an amount approved by the LMC Executive Board. It is ususally presented during the Society's Winter Meeting at the Society Plenary Session, and the recipient is requested to speak at the LMC Luncheon.

The time between first receipt by the LMC Awards Committee of a candidate's credentials and his or her possible nomination to the ASHRAE Honors & Awards Committee is typically two or more years.

The LMC Awards Committee will receive recommendations for nomination from individual ASHRAE members, including ASHRAE Chapter Sutdent Activities Chairs where there are active ASHRAE Student Branches.

A recommendation for nomination should be submitted to the Chair of the LMC Awards Committee and includes a packet with the following supoprting documentation:

  • Letters from Department Heads or Deans and associated or colleagues familiar with the candidate's achievements and teaching. Three or more such letters are preferred.
  • A copy of the candidate's up-to-date ASHRAE Biographical Form.
  • A list of the candidate's publications.
  • Other materials, as desired, which reinforce the candidate's stature as a teacher of ASHRAE related subjects.
