As ASHRAE continues to move closer to the speed of business, it is apparent that the Society needs to conduct both web based and telephone conference call meetings between our normal face to face meetings. To that end, remote meeting technology allows groups to share a common computer presentation interface over the internet, while also being connected through an audio conference call link. This technology can dramatically increase volunteer productivity and efficiency. We can optimize all of our collaborative processes, from presentation events and training sessions to business meetings and brainstorming sessions — regardless of where members are located. More specifically, electronic meetings will help society to - eliminate or minimize the need for ASHRAE members to travel to interim meetings,
- increase the productivity of physical meetings, and
- make ASHRAE educational offerings and technical presentations accessible to a wider audience

Learn More A webinar is a specific type of web conference. It is typically one-way, from the speaker to the audience with limited audience interaction, such as in a webcast. A webinar can be collaborative and include polling and question & answer sessions to allow full participation between the audience and the presenter. In some cases, the presenter may speak over a standard telephone line, pointing out information being presented on screen and the audience can respond over their own telephones, preferably a speaker phone.
