Assurance and Credibility

ASHRAE research, standards and publicaitons transfer current technology and accepted practice to the worldwide HVAC&R industry. Through their ASHRAE memberships, employees have technical information available to them that is universally recognized as authoritative and reliable.

Industry Participation

Through volunteer service on nearly 200 technical committees and standards project committees, ASHRAE members influence the direction of HVAC&R technology. Through their participation on committees, volunteers contribute to an organization recognized internationally for advancing technology. By working with other professionals from around the world, ASHRAE members:

  • Create industry standards and recommended procedures and guidelines issued by ASHRAE. ASHRAE is a recognized standards writing body of the American National Standards Institute. ASHRAE's more than 80 standards serve as the basis of testing and design practice around the world.
  • Development of research. ASHRAE has under contract at university, government and private laboratories some 75 active research projects with a combined value of more than $8 million.
  • Development of ASHRAE Handbook chapters.

Professional Growth

ASHRAE provides unique opportunities to develop communication, management and leadership skills.
