ATLANTA – Away from the office but need a quick analysis of a field problem?

Grab your Guía de Bolsillo.

The book, a Spanish translation of the ASHRAE Pocket Guide, is now available. The Pocket Guide serves as a ready reference for engineers whose mobility keeps them from easy access to the ASHRAE Handbook volumes and information in ASHRAE standards.

Translation of the Guide is part of ASHRAE’s effort to better serve the international HVAC&R community by implementing various global strategies. This strategic plan, which includes the translation of ASHRAE literature into various languages, will increase the value of membership worldwide and provide easier access to ASHRAE technology outside of the United States.

“With the ‘flattening’ of today’s global economy, there is greater demand for the sharing of engineering and scientific information,” Steve Comstock, ASHRAE publisher, said. “Making ASHRAE literature available in other languages assists many ASHRAE members outside the United States by providing them with additional resources for their personal use and for use interacting with others in the construction industry.”

Inquiries about translation of ASHRAE documents should be sent to Comstock at comstock@ashrae.org.

The cost of the Guía de Bolsillo is $42 ($34 ASHRAE members).

To order the ASHRAE Pocket Guide in either Spanish or English, contact ASHRAE Customer Service at 1-800-527-4723 (United States and Canada) or 404-636-8400 (worldwide), fax 404-321-5478, or visit www.ashrae.org/bookstore.

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of some 50,000 persons. ASHRAE fulfills its mission of advancing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education.
