ASHRAE Insights

ASHRAE has made several recent changes to www.ashrae.org to benefit members with streamlined access to information about membership benefits, meetings, committees, and a new bookstore featuring all of the latest ASHRAE products and publications. It is hoped by those involved in the transition that members have had a chance to explore the new features and have found them useful. If not, here is a short introduction to the ASHRAE bio system.

As part of the Web update, ASHRAE has created a new comprehensive bio system that allows members to update their education, job history, contact information, memberships with other organizations, patent and publication records and other biographical information. ASHRAE members must have updated bios in order to serve on Society-level committees and to receive any Society-level awards.

To access your bio, you must first login on the upper left corner of www.ashrae.org. If you have not logged in before, use the primary e-mail address you have on file with ASHRAE and the PIN on your membership card. You can change your password once you have logged in to the new system once. If you cannot locate your PIN or new password, or if you do not have a valid e-mail address on file with ASHRAE, contact the customer service department at cservice@ashrae.org.

Once you have logged in, select My Profile (Bio) from the menu on the left side to access and edit your bio. Move your mouse over Member Profile on the left side in the green shaded box and click. On the next screen, there are different tabs of information under the green bar – select bio information. If the My Profile(Bio) option is not available, click on Members and then Manage Membership, and finally on Biographical Record System.
Under each tab, you can input additional records with the ADD button, and edit existing records using the pencil icon to the left of the record. To delete a record, click the red X. In records such as contact information, you will mark one as the primary record by checking the box under the word primary.
The initial page is bio information, where you can enter your date of birth and all languages that you can read and write.

In the Demographics tab, members can edit company and job information as well as input the number of publications and patents you have. Be sure to click the Save button after each edit or addition on each tab.
On the Contact Info tab, you can edit existing contact information or add additional contact information. Click the pencil icon of the address that has the check mark under Primary. Remember to hit the validate address button and then click Save.

The Membership tab shows your Society and chapter membership.  You cannot edit certain parts of it, including committee participation and chapter and regional officer positions. Other sections you cannot edit include the ASHRAE Awards section under the Honors and Awards tab and the information in the Participation tab, which lists your ASHRAE committee and chapter participation.

The Edu. Pro. Reg. tab directly below the green bar is your educational and professional history, and the Honors and Awards tab allows editing of non-ASHRAE awards.  The final tab, Other, contains personal accomplishments and relationships with other organizations.

Anyone with questions regarding their  online bio can contact ASHRAE customer service at cservice@ashrae.org or 800-527-4723 (U.S and Canada) or 404-636-8400 worldwide.
