ASHRAE Insights

It is not unusual to be greeted by name at work and at home. Now, ASHRAE will be give members a personal hello online. As part of a recent Web site update, members will see text on the left column of the site that welcomes them by first name after logging in.

To log in, go to the upper left corner of www.ashrae.org and input your e-mail address and password. If you have not logged in before, use the primary e-mail address you have on file with ASHRAE and the PIN on your membership card. You can change your password once you have logged in to the new system once. If you cannot locate your PIN or new password, or if you do not have a valid e-mail address on file with ASHRAE, contact the customer service department at cservice@ashrae.org. For more information on logging in, visit www.ashrae.org/loginhelp.

As part of the recent site update, ASHRAE’s Washington office now has its own top-level tab. It can be found at the far right under Advocacy on the green bar at the top of the page. It formerly was found in the Government Affairs link in the About Us section and as a Quicklink from the ASHRAE homepage. The information in the Advocacy tab encompasses everything that ASHRAE’s Washington office and Advocacy Committee are doing to promote ASHRAE activities and technology.

The new section includes a resources page, which contains information about participating in both federal and state government and tips on phoning, writing or e-mailing legislators.

The advocacy section also contains a beefed up events page with photos of events in Washington, a downloadable calendar of Government Affairs activities and information from briefings. As a benefit for Canadian members and those interested in government happenings regarding the built environment there, a Canadian Updates listserve has been added as well.

The section will provide up to date information and photos so members can stay informed about legislation and activities.

Another new feature on the ASHRAE Web site is wider pages, which will reduce the need for scrolling and will allow more content to fit on one page.

Persons with questions about new Web site features or suggestions about improvements can contact ASHRAE Electronic Communications via e-mail at websupport@ashrae.org.
