The Life Members Club Executive Board would like its “silent” members who do not pay dues or contribute to the club to step up and be counted. Since its inception, the club has encouraged the recognition and support of professors who are exemplary in encouraging and teaching students in the HVAC&R industry. It has rewarded one professor each year with the prestigious E. K. Campbell award, which now carries a $3,000 stipend. In addition, it has awarded stipends to two or more students annually. The club has encouraged members to voluntarily contribute to these projects, which has been the club’s major works. A recent IRS ruling has made it easier than ever to make a tax exempt contribution. Currently only 400 of the 3,500 Life Members make voluntary contributions each year. This is the only source of funds for the Club’s activities. Although the sole purpose of the club is for the benefit of ASHRAE, it is not an official part of ASHRAE. Think of how much more the club could accomplish on ASHRAE’s behalf if only more of the 3,500 noncontributing members would contribute. Contributions should be sent to: ASHRAE Life Members Club, 1791 Tullie Circle, Atlanta, GA 30329. | |
