HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—ASHRAE Region VII is blasting off toward sustainability with its Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) later this month at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The CRC will be held Aug. 23–25 in Huntsville, Ala. The technical program has the theme “Going Green in Region VII.” It will address key sustainability issues and changes in the industry. Featured speakers at the conference will include: • ASHRAE Presidential Member Terry Townsend, P.E., ASHRAE Fellow, speaking on The ASHRAE Promise: an Update on Our Sustainable Future. He is president of Townsend Engineering, Chattanooga, Tenn. • Jeffrey S. Haberl, Ph.D., P.E., ASHRAE Fellow, speaking on The New ASHRAE Protocol for Measuring and Reporting Onsite Performance of Buildings and What it Could Mean for You. He is associate director of the Energy Systems Laboratory and a professor of architecture at Texas A&M University. • Presidential Member Don Colliver, Ph.D., P.E., ASHRAE Fellow, speaking on ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guide for Schools. Colliver is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky. • Dennis Stanke, The Latest on ASHRAE Standard 62.1 – How You Can Use It to Reduce Energy and Provide Good Ventilation. He is staff applications engineer, Trane, LaCrosse, Wis. • Jeff Christian, Zero Energy Buildings: A Promising Grand Challenge.
