ATHENS, Greece—Terry Townsend concluded his presidential year by visiting the Hellenic Chapter. Townsend, along with Costas Balaras, met with Manolis Drakakis, vice president of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) that represents all professional engineers, Apostolos Efthimiadis and Kostas Alexopoulos, member of the technical committee on energy, to discuss issues of mutual interest on the energy performance of buildings and possible collaborations in view of the ongoing national and European efforts and ASHRAE’s leading international role.

Townsend also was the main speaker during the technical program of the chapter’s June meeting, which was attended by 105 people. The program included two technical presentations. Townsend addressed ASHRAE’s vision with the theme Carry the Fire of the ASHRAE Promise: A Sustainable Future. The second presentation entitled “Design of Modern Commercial Buildings with Underfloor HVAC Systems” was given by  Building Services Engineer Pantelis Kouzis. A technical tour of the new underfloor installation at the Costamare building, the site of the meeting, followed the presentations.
