William W. (Bill) Seaton
Member; 72; 3665 Annadale Lane, Suwanee, GA 30024; joined ASHRAE in 1982. Seaton served on the ASHRAE staff from 1981 until his retirement in 2002 as the Manager of Research. Seaton joined the ASHRAE staff in 1981 after the Society had just completed the move of its headquarters from New York to Atlanta. Seaton was the architech of the current research program, having overseen its growth and development during his term. In 1981, there were 25 projects and the budget was $700,000; in 2001, $3 million in expenditures and 106 projects. Seaton also administered the graduate students grant-in-aid program, which awarded more than 300 grants at a value of more than $2 million. Seaton served as staff liaison on the Research Administration, ASHRAE Research Canada and Refrigeration Committees. Seaton also managed a number of Special Projects, most notably with the U.S. Department of Energy. After his retirement, he continued to serve on the Admissions and Advancement Committee.
