ASHRAE Insights

The ASHRAE Handbook kicked off the New Year with the launch of a new Web page with tools and resources to aid TCs in revising their chapters in the four-volume Handbook series.
The new Web page, entitled ASHRAE Handbook Central, is located under the Publications tab of www.ashrae.org.

This new service benefits users, TCs, and the Handbook Committee members by improving the Handbook through better tracking of Handbook user comments.

The new Web page streamlines the process for collecting online comments from Handbook users. The comments now flow into a database with an automatic notification system. The comments are organized for the TCs. In addition, a discussion area was created for use by committees developing content for the Handbook. Lastly, Handbook Central is also the new home for the official Handbook chapter base files download page, where TCs can get their chapters in MS Word for use in revisions.

“The comments database was one of the most important recommendations of the recent Handbook improvement workshops,” said Mark Owen, ASHRAE Handbook editor. “We hope ASHRAE Handbook Central will be the TCs’ new one-stop Web location for all of their important Handbook development resources.”
