ASHRAE Standards Project Committee 179P, Method of Test for Life Testing Positive Displacement Refrigerant Compressors, seeks members.

The committee is charged with developing a new “method of test” standard for life testing refrigeration compressors. One of the  requirements for standards development is that the committee has “balance,” with project committee members representing three categories: compressor users, compressor producers and general interest. The committee needs members to represent the “compressor user” community. Project committee members need not be members of ASHRAE.

While it is highly desirable that committee members attend meetings, which are usually held in conjunction with the ASHRAE winter meeting and the ASHRAE annual meeting, meeting attendance is not an absolute requirement. The committee can include corresponding voting members.
