ASHRAE Insights

Electronic ballots will be mailed May 2 to all qualified voting members with valid email addresses in the Society database. ASHRAE is encouraging electronic voting to ensure a smooth voting process and to save paper.

Each voting member who has a valid e-mail address in the Society database will receive an e-mail containing a link to the online ballot. The e-mail will also include a generic login and password, required to vote.

If ASHRAE does not have your email address, visit www.ashrae.org and create a login. For the ballot, it is recommended that Members create a login by April 15.

Voting members who do not have valid e-mail addresses in the Society database will receive paper ballots. They can fill out the paper ballot and return it, or use the Web address provided (generic login and password will be included) on the paper ballot to vote online.

This year, members will vote to elect members to the ASHRAE Board of Directors, and to vote on interpretation of the ASHRAE policy on indoor air quality and ventilation standards.

Information about nominees and the proposed interpretation will be published in the April issue of ASHRAE Insights. In addition, more information about the interpretation can be found at www.ashrae.org/iaqquestions

The five interpretation questions to be sent to the ASHRAE membership for a vote arise out of the Society Bylaws (section 4.6) that allow the Board of Directors to refer any important question to the membership, and then to use the outcome of that vote in guiding the subsequent actions of the board.
