MONCTON, NB, Canada—The New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Chapter presented three scholarships at its February meeting. A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a son or daughter of an ASHRAE member who is enrolled in a post-secondary program. This year’s recipient was Bethany Chaisson, a first year BSc student at the University of Prince Edward Island. This marks the first time such a scholarship was presented to someone from Prince Edward Island. Presenting a check at the UPEI Awards Ceremony is Frank Callagan, P.Eng. Charline Godin, a second year student in the civil engineering technology (building systems) program at New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) Moncton, has won the Emile R. LeBlanc scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The award is provided annually by the New Brunswick and PEI chapter of ASHRAE. Presenting the award is the ASHRAE Student Activities chair John Willden, P.Eng. MBA, who is an HVAC instructor at NBCC Moncton. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an ASHRAE student member at the Saint John Campus of the New Brunswick Community College. This year’s recipient is Robert Haynes, a second year student in the Buildings—Energy and Environment Option (Co-Op). Presenting the award to Haynes is Doug Scott, P.Eng., an instructor at the college and faculty advisor for the ASHRAE Student Branch in Saint John. The scholarships at the University of New Brunswick and the Université de Moncton have been endowed, and selection and awarding are handled by the respective universities.
