British Columbia Students Tour Hospital

VANCOUVER, BC, Canada—The British Columbia Chapter’s Charlotte Ross and her colleagues from Olympic International Agency invited mechanical engineering students from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (pictured) to visit the newly completed Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Center in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Herb Mussbacher of Lockerbie & Hole Contracting Ltd., showed the students the centralized heating and cooling plants and its plate heat exchangers that recover heat from the two centralized centrifugal water cooled chillers, the emergency generator room and its fuel system, the rooftop centralized air-handling system and its runaround heat recovery loop, the operating theater, the instantaneous hot water heating system and its heat recovery system using flue gas, and the transformer room. Visitors said the highlight of the tour was the visit to the morgue to see its facilities.
