ASHRAE’s 2009 Satellite Broadcast was not just lean, clean and green, it was also well-received.

April 22’s broadcast/webcast, Clean, Lean, and Green—IAQ for Sustainable Buildings, was watched by 17,717 viewers at nearly 1,300 sites around the world. Satellite download viewers were joined by Webcast viewers in 41 countries, including viewers from Aruba, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Uruguay and the Cayman Islands taking part for the first time. Ninety-five percent of viewers indicated they were very satisfied with the program and its components.

Sponsored by ASHRAE’s Chapter Technology Transfer Committee with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the free program challenged the building community to use good IAQ practices to create a more sustainable built environment.

The program highlighted guidance from the upcoming publication IAQ Guide: Best Practices for Design, Construction, and Commissioning, developed collaboratively by ASHRAE, AIA, BOMA, EPA, SMACNA and USGBC.

The Guide is expected to be available later this year and can be preordered at www.ashrae.org/iaqdesignguide.
