IAQ Conferences IAQ 2007 -- Healthy and Sustainable Buildings Speakers and presenters at IAQ 2007 addressed what tools and metrics can be used to quantify buildings’ health and sustainability and how indoor air quality can be certified as sustainable. Some other topics of discussion included green building rating systems and green materials labeling systems; IAQ problem prevention and mitigation; ventilation and health; personalized ventilation; materials emissions; IAQ in homes, offices, and schools; natural ventilation; and the development of an IAQ Design Guide from ASHRAE. The ASHRAE IAQ Conference has a history of attracting the world’s most authoritative experts on indoor air quality, as well as the most up-to-date technical and practical information on the subject. IAQ 2004 -- Critical Operations: Supporting the Healing Environment Through IAQ Performance Standards This conference, held March 15-17, 2004, in Tampa, FL, addressed the critical role that IAQ performance standards provide in support of health care facilities. Organized by ASHRAE, the IAQ conference took place simultaneously with the American Society of Healthcare Engineer's (ASHE) International Conference and Exhibition on Health Facility Planning, Design and Construction (PDC). Specific paper topics include: active humidity control and continuous ventilation for improved IAQ in schools, mold-associated asthma, preventing house dust mites allergens in new housing, avoiding mold in finished basements, and finding microbial growth with a mold dog. The conference provided attendees with an understanding of the standards and their bases so they can be used and interpreted effectively. This publication emphasizes practical approaches to building and HVAC system design which limits air pollutants and sources of IAQ problems. Addditionally, investigative protocols, contaminant measurements and remedies for buildings with air quality problems are discussed. Commissioning and maintenance of systems are covered, and methods suggested for increasing productivity through improved indoor air environments. (book) IAQ 94: Engineering Indoor Environments This conference brought together scientists, investigators and design practitioners to work toward improving the indoor environment. The papers focus on engineering and designing buildings and HVAC systems for acceptable indoor environments. Includes new information on IAQ in health care facilities, IAQ in a contaminated environment and the safety of air in aircraft cabins.
