ASHRAE and Strategic Planning
Status of the Current Planning Effort
ASHRAE developed its first strategic plan in 1985, believing that by guiding application of its resources in accordance with a plan that anticipates future needs, members and the public, the Society will best be able to accomplish its mission.
Since that time, ASHRAE has updated its plan on a semi-regular basis, with its last plan adopted 2006, and then maintained by the Board of Directors through a continuous strategic planning progress facilitated by the Planning Committee. In spring 2013, the Society began work on a new plan. You can read more about those efforts here in an article titled, Charting ASHRAE’s Future
Before adoption of a new strategic plan, the ASHRAE Planning Committee is developing an overview of complementary tools and resources to support plan implementation including a business plan and an implementation plan. The Board of Directors will discuss the initial components of the plan, including a strategic map of the plan’s objectives and goals, during the 2014 Winter Conference in New York.
