Student Branch: UTAR (Universiti Tunka Abdul Rahman) ASHRAE Student Branch

Mr. King Yeong Jin has served as the advisor for UTAR ASHRAE Student Branch since 2011. The student branch has successfully organized a number of events and activities as well as taking part in chapter and region activities.

Last year, the student branch successfully organized a run to raise funds for the branch. The event had over 1000 participants including student members, chapter members, employers, and students from other universities.

The details of some of the activities organized for the UTAR ASHRAE Student Branch are listed below:

2016 ASHRAE Run


October 2016: The branch organized this event in collaboration with Universiti of Malaya ASHRAE Student Branch. The number of participants was 1130 including students and public.

Malaysia Chapter Annual Dinner

Malaysia Chapter Annual Dinner

October 2016: 17 students attended the 31st annual dinner and helped in the preparation of the event.

STEM Workshop

October 2016: UTAR ASHRAE Student Branch collaborated with UTAR Department of Soft Skills Competency with the objective to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics to primary school student of SJK(C) Jinjang 2. UTAR and ASHRAE were introduced to the primary school students and there were games related to science to enhance the interest of primary school students.

Technical Visit to Daikin

November 2016: The branch organized a technical visit to Daikin Industires. The visit was guided by Mr King and 40 students participated in the visit.

Recruitment Drives

October 2016 and January 2017: The branch organized recruitment events to raise awareness of the branch and ASHRAE membership.

Hisense VRF Technical Workshop and Career Drive

February 2017: The branch organized a technical visit to Hisense. The visit was guided by Mr King and 31 students participated in the visit. The students were also able to attend interview sessions.
