Austin Energy District Cooling Plant #2 (DCP2)
    Monday, June 29 │ 2:15 – 5:15 p.m. │ $35

This tour will showcase the city of Austin’s downtown district cooling plant with ice thermal storage. The District Cooling Plant #2 or DCP2, is one of four district cooling plants that serve the downtown Austin area.  DCP2 consists of three 5,000-ton water chillers and one 2,500-ton glycol chiller and two 1,250-ton glycol chillers. The glycol chillers make ice in the 55,000-ton capacity ice tank. All chillers are shut down from 3-6pm every day during which ice is used to meet the load. This shifts electrical load from the peak to off peak times.

Tour participants will be split into two groups for the tour.
