John Klote, Ph.D., P.E.
After a twenty-year career as Project Leader at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) John Klote formed a company that used the results of research to provide consulting services to fire protection engineers, mechanical engineers and code officials concerning practical solutions to various fire protection problems. Klote's consulting consisted of design analysis, design review, toxicity evaluation, and teaching courses about smoke management and computer smoke modeling. Now semi-retired, he conducts private smoke control seminars tailored for the specific needs of clients and provides mentoring services for individuals who want a fast way to become proficient in particular aspects of smoke control technology. Klote has developed and teaches smoke control seminars for SFPE. He is a fellow of SFPE and a fellow of ASHRAE.
