Steps to maintain your CPMP certification

Stay current with ASHRAE Continuing Education.
To maintain your CPMP certification, you must have completed 45 professional development hours that meet the ASHRAE Continuing Education (ACEs) guidelines in the three (3) years following the year in which either you initially earned the certification or you last renewed it. The ACEs must be directly related to commissioning. Online courses are available each spring and fall and onsite courses are available throughout the year including at ASHRAE’s Annual and Winter conferences. See a list of the currently scheduled courses here

    Renew your certification.
THE CPMP renewal fee is $195  ($125 for ASHRAE members).

  • All ASHRAE certifications are issued for a period of three years and expire on December 31 of the third year.
  • Certified Professionals have a twelve-month grace period after expiration to submit a renewal application.
  • Forty-five professional development hours that meet the ASHRAE Continuing Education (ACEs) guidelines.
  • Documentation of ACEs does not need to be submitted with renewal application but should be retained. Random audits are conducted to monitor compliance.
  • Find more detailed information about renewal requirements.

Earn ASHRAE Continuing Education Hours by writing exam items.
ASHRAE is providing an opportunity for persons who are certified to draft items for use on each of the six certification exams. Items must be submitted for the certification(s) held by the person submitting. Writing exam items allows people who currently hold one or more of the ASHRAE credentials to earn up to five (5) ASHRAE Continuing Education (ACE) units toward renewal of that certification by submitting 10 draft exam items. Items must follow the format provided in the current AMP Item Writing Guide for Certification. Access the Online Item Writing Form.
