Overview

We set goals early in the process and developed an approach to best execute the project. This also created an opportunity for us to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to delegate tasks appropriately.

The central energy analysis tool used by our team was TRACE 700. Our team supplemented the abilities of TRACE 700 with other programs such as TRACE 3D Plus, PV Watts Calculator, Solar Hot Water System Calculator, Lighting Engineer, and Acuity Visual Lighting Software.

The team focused on trying to come up with a proposal that we felt a real building owner might reasonably consider.  We wanted to stick with technologies and solutions readily available, cost effective, and easy to apply to the existing building. The team put together the baseline model and used it to determine those aspects of the building design and operation that were consuming the most energy.
