Phone Only
  • Many phone companies offer conferencing features for 2 or 3 people. User is responsible for any fees associated with this type of call.

  • Conference Call services can be purchased independently. Fees vary by number of people on the call, number of minutes used and features added. To use the service provided by ASHRAE, contact the applicable staff liaison.
VOIP
  • VoIP (Voice Over IP) is a digital telephone service that uses the public Internet as well as private backbones instead of the traditional telephone network. Many companies, including Vonage, 8x8 and AT&T, typically offer calling within the country for a fixed fee and a low per-minute charge for international. Broadband Internet access (cable or DSL) is required, and regular house phones plug into an analog telephone adapter (ATA) provided by the company or purchased from a third party. Use of this technology outside of GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar is not supported by ASHRAE.
Skype
  • Skype is software that allows users to make telephone calls over the Internet. Calls to other users of the service and to free-of-charge numbers are free, while calls to other landlines and mobile phones can be made for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing. Not supported by ASHRAE.
