Bob Baker gives his presentation.

ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer Visits São Paulo

By Oswaldo Bueno, Region XII historian

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL – ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer Robert Baker, ASHRAE Fellow, recently spoke at the Fourth Technological Week at the invitation of SENAI Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial.

The presence of Baker was outstanding and much appreciated by this Congress. He accepted the challenge to share his knowledge with our country and was asked to translate his two presentations into Portuguese.  With the simultaneous translation to Portuguese the audience was able to fully understand the presentation.

Baker also attended the reunion of the CE-55:002.01 – Commission to Study Air Conditioning in Healthcare of the CB-55 Brazilian Committee for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating of the ABNT Brazilian Association for Technical Standards. During this meeting, he shared his experience in maintenance of health care facilities.

Invited by Samoel Viera de Souza, Baker visited ABRAVA’s headquarters in Sao Paulo. Invited by Roberto Spada, Baker also visited the headquarters of the SENAI International Affairs, where he received a book of the WSI Workskills International History from 1950 to 2010.

Baker is a very good example how important the Distinguished Lecturer Program is from ASHRAE.
