ATIC Celebrates 75th Anniversary
Association Royale de la Technique du Chauffage, de la Ventilation et de la Climatisation (ATIC) celebrated its 75th anniversary in June 2013. ATIC is an ASHRAE Associate Society Alliance member and a staunch supporter of ASHRAE in Belgium. Several of its board members are active members of ASHRAE.
ATIC was incorporated on March 29, 1938, as the Royal Technical Association for the Industry of Heating, Ventilation, and Affiliated Branches. At that time, air conditioning was not a common usage and the emphasis was on heating and ventilation. ATIC has always been a technical association and it published its first technical handbook in 1939.
ASHRAE marked the 75th anniversary celebrations by sending ATIC a commemoration plaque that was presented to ATIC Board in a special ceremony on Sept. 4, 2013. Bassam Elassaad, ASHRAE Region-at-Large Sub-Region chair for Europe, represented ASHRAE at the ceremony and wished ATIC continued success. Elassaad discussed matters of mutual cooperation and invited ATIC to join ASHRAE Benelux Section in some of its activities, specifically the Distinguished Lecturer program and Student Activities.
