Residential Building Committee (RBC)

ASHRAE has long been considered a leader in commercial and institutional building design, construction and operation. In 2014, the Society looked at its role in residential, exploring how it can contribute most effectively to the improvement of the performance of residential buildings

The Residential Building Committee (RBC) was created in 2015 and is responsible for identifying major residential trends impacting the practice of HVAC&R, informing the ASHRAE leadership and membership of these trends and their potential impacts, and making recommendations on new activities and policies in response to these trends. The committee will identify, recommend and coordinate relationships with societies and organizations that focus on residential buildings. The committee will also be responsible for implementation of the residential aspects of the Strategic Plan.

RBC meets at the ASHRAE Winter and Annual Conferences and holds two to three web meetings throughout the remainder of the year. To receive periodic information and announcements from RBC, please sign up for the committee’s listserve here.

What's New with the Residential Building Committee

RBC hosted a 2nd Residential Stakeholders workshop in Alexandria, VA on September 15-16, 2016 immediately following the 2016 IAQA.   The workshop, Partners for and Evolving Housing Market, was held at the Old Towne Alexandria Crown Plaza and included a number of stakeholders in the residential market.  A report on the findings from the workshop will be posted here once it is completed.
