ASHRAE’s longstanding vision is to promote a healthy and sustainable built environment for all. We’re asking for your help to achieve this mission through taking the ASHRAE Sustainability Pledge at the 2024 Chicago Winter Conference.

Small actions add up when everyone takes part. Please select all the ways you will commit to sustainability during the Winter Conference in Chicago.

* 1. DO. I Pledge To:

Turn off all the lights when leaving your conference hotel room.

Bring a reusable water bottle to your meetings instead of filling up the plastic cups.

Enjoy at least one meatless meal during the conference.

Turn off the water while you are brushing your teeth.

To the greatest extent possible, plan business travel around ASHRAE conferences and meet with customers and clients in Chicago to minimize CO2 emissions from air travel.

Offset your air travel GHG emissions. Purchase voluntary offsets when booking air travel from major airlines.

Take public transportation to and from the airport and around downtown. The HART system includes electric trolley and low-emission bus transportation options.

Reuse your hotel sheets and towels for the duration of your stay to reduce water and energy consumption.

* 2. LEARN. I Pledge To:

Attend an ALI course on sustainability during the conference. We suggest Saturday’s Introduction to Building Decarbonization taught by Dru Crawley or Tuesday’s Starting the Path to Net Zero Buildings Using ASHRAE 90.1-2022 by Mac Wallace.

Attend a Technical Session on sustainability during the conference. We suggest anything from the Pathways to Net Zero Energy and Building Decarbonization tracks.
