Joe Hofstetter, PE, CEM, LEED AP, is Principal and Director of Building Performance and Sustainability at Karpinski Engineering. Joe has been involved in the energy efficiency and sustainable building design since 2002. Over his 20+ year career, Joe started in MEP system design with a focus in energy efficiency and green building certification. This lead to involvement in work with existing buildings where Joe has spent the majority of his career working on energy auditing and the development of energy, infrastructure improvement projects and energy based commissioning services.
Joe is a member of ASHRAE and has been a member of the ASHRAE Technical Committee 7.6 for Building Energy Performance Since 2014. He is the currently the subcommittee Chair for “Commercial Building Energy Auditing” and is leading the effort in the revisions for the third edition of the ASHRAE Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits Publication.
Joe has a Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree from the University of Dayton and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University.
