HVAC Design and Operations Training

This training was great and really has accelerated my understanding of HVAC design principles. The instructors are able to pull from their extensive experience and knowledge to give tips and examples that are useful and relevant. Great experience overall!.

Great course, well-rounded information for anyone in the HVAC industry. You get exposure to all sorts of equipment and designs in the industry, even outside your market. Whether you are in consulting or in sales, this training is beneficial for everyone. Great job, ASHRAE!

This is years of experience and knowledge condensed into a priceless three-day event. It tackles most of the common issues you come across as a design engineer, and the instructors really go in-depth with practical examples from their work. I am very confident that I will have a great use for everything learned and highly recommend the course to someone just starting out as a HAVC engineer. Even if you’ve been in the industry for some time, this experience will be important.

This course was very beneficial for expanding my baseline knowledge for HVAC system design and application. I have been in the industry for several years but never had formal “essentials” training and this course was exactly what I needed. The information learned this week will go a long way toward making me more effective both in the immediate future and over my career.

The ASHRAE HVAC Design Training provided me with the information needed in order to carry out my position responsibilities more effectively. The training aided in the design of high-performance HVAC systems that are optimized for occupant comfort and safety. I am eager to share what I have learned with my coworkers, and to implement the newly attained knowledge into my own HVAC design.

This was by far the best HVAC class I have ever taken. Worth every penny.

This has been an excellent experience, and both instructors have the rare ability to know HVAC and communicate to us. I believe this should be required training for anyone involved in HVAC and/or energy efficiency, because this class pulls so many of these concepts together. Finally, the instructors take the mundane, and inject humor/personal stories to make this understandable and engaging.

Get In-Depth, Practical Knowledge to Succeed

ASHRAE Learning Institute offers four intensive HVAC Design and Operation training sessions that fill the need to improve overall building performance.

HVAC Design Training is comprised of a series of four different training sessions. To learn more about each one, click on the tabs below.

In light of COVID-19 and the safety of ASHRAE course participants, the HVAC Design trainings will be held online.

  • Level I

HVAC Design: Level I – Essentials provides intensive, practical training ideal for recent technical or engineering school graduates, engineers new to the HVAC field, those who need a refresher in new technologies, and facility managers, sales representatives and others who want to gain a better understanding of HVAC fundamentals, equipment and systems.

  • Level II

HVAC Design Level II – Applications provides instruction in HVAC system design for experienced HVAC engineers and those who have completed the HVAC Design: Level I – Essentials. The training covers the technical aspects of design and allows participants an opportunity to expand their exposure to HVAC systems applications to increase energy savings and improve indoor environmental quality.

  • Consulting Engineering Essentials

Consulting Engineering Essentials provides an overview of ownership responsibilities and offer insights into business development, marketing of engineering services, planning and project management, accounting, and client management to help develop the project engineer into a well-rounded consulting engineer.

  • Improving Existing Building Operation

Improving Existing Building Operation focuses on the importance of proper operation and maintenance of existing HVAC systems to increase building performance. The training equips attendees with the techniques to assess existing building performance to make their facilities operate more efficiently and economically.
