Nick Searle, Member ASHRAE

Biography

Nick Searle has 30 years HVAC application experience in a range of fields including noise control engineering, air distribution, and air/water systems. Originally from the United Kingdom, Nick has worked in the USA since 2006, supporting engineers, owners, and architects with the design of chilled beam/sensible cooling fan terminal systems and has been involved with many of the first projects to be installed with these systems in North America.

Since relocating to the USA, Nick has assisted with the design of chilled beam systems on projects including Dartmouth College Life Science Building, NH (Labs), Comcast Tower Philadelphia, PA (Offices), UBS Regions Bank Nashville, TN (Offices), UC Riverside, CA (Labs), Moses Cone Hospital, NC, University of Hawaii Cancer Care Center and the first patient care facility to use an active chilled beam system, Yale University Health Service Center, NH.

He has been involved with the design and testing of new chilled beam products including a specialist design for VAV primary air operation (which was awarded a patent) and managed the sound testing of a chilled beam product line at UNLV’s sound laboratories in Las Vegas. Prior to moving to the USA, Nick worked for noise control specialists NOICO LTD, UK, where he managed testing of sound attenuator products at Sound Research Laboratories. He also designed the noise control equipment for the UK’s MI6 Secret Service Headquarters at Vauxhall Cross, London and for the BBC White City broadcasting studios.
