Russell has over 32 years of commissioning experience, serving as a controls contractor, a 3rd Party Cx Provider, and a Branch Manager with a Fortune 500 controls service and equipment company. He currently leads a team of over 35 Cx Professionals as a Cx Process Manager for a Clayco—an ENR ranked Top 5 National Builder/Developer specializing in Mission Critical projects. Russell also recently completed his 2nd three-year term on the Building Commissioning Association’s International Board of Directors. Before joining the Building Commissioning Association International Board of Directors, Russell was on the board of the Southwest Chapter of the BCxA for 6 years serving as an officer including President. During his tenure with the BCxA, he was actively involved in leadership—serving on many committees including membership, and training/professional development, where he chaired the committee for the first half of 2023.
Russel specializes in commissioning complex facilities such as data centers, semiconductor manufacturing clean rooms, laboratories, and hospitals. He has led over 200 projects since becoming a Commissioning provider in 2009. Russell believes that commissioning is ever evolving and relentlessly pursues new methods and technologies. He maintains that commissioning is most effective when the construction team prepares for the process—ensuring effective teamwork to resolve system issues before commissioning.
