The Seventh ASHRAE International Conference on Efficient Building Design

Materials and HVAC Equipment Technologies

Beirut, Lebanon | October 8-9, 2026

 

The objective of the conference is to support meaningful innovation for the development of sustainable built environments at individual building and city levels. This is achieved by identifying and advancing smart/AI-based solutions, and technologies aimed at significantly improving the effectiveness of heating, ventilation, and cooling costs and enhancing resilience of building and cities in future warmer climates. The ultimate goal is to contribute to efforts accelerating the realization of carbon reduction targets. Papers are encouraged that explore integrated strategies, policies, and technologies enhancing urban resilience, resource efficiency, and climate responsiveness across various sectors.

The conference, organized by ASHRAE, the ASHRAE Lebanese Chapter, the Munib and Angela Masri Institute of Energy and Natural Resources and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Beirut, will be held on October 8-9, 2026 at The American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon.

The conference topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design interventions for climate resilience of building and communities
  • Sustainable healthy building design including ventilation and indoor air quality
  • Innovations in building materials for passive and active envelops
  • Energy Efficient heating and cooling towards sustainable solutions
  • Urban heat island and solutions for enhanced outdoor thermal comfort
  • Building performance: models, metrics and standards

    Papers are being sought for the 7th ASHRAE International Conference on Efficient Building Design—Materials and HVAC Equipment Technologies. The objective of the conference is to support meaningful innovation for the development of sustainable built environments at individual building and city levels.     A call for abstracts (300 words in length) opens May 26, 2025. Abstracts are due September 30, 2025. If accepted, papers are due February 16, 2026. Authors of accepted papers are responsible for travel and registration. Hotel accommodations are free for authors presenting papers.  Submittal information can be found at
