Starting the Path to Net Zero Buildings Using ASHRAE 90.1 - Featuring 2025 Updates
Course Length: 3 hours
This course introduces the framework and intent of ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2025 requirements, with a focus on how to advance energy efficiency and decarbonization targets for commercial buildings. Building on this foundation, the course reviews key updates in Standard 90.1-2022—including new Additional Efficiency Requirements in Chapter 11, the Total System Performance Ratio (TSPR) compliance pathway, and revisions to Appendix G and other performance provisions—to show how 90.1-2022 serves as the stepping stone toward successful application of 90.1-2025 in practice.
This course is focused on how to advance energy efficiency and decarbonization targets for commercial buildings. Now that ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2025 is published, we are giving a taste of the major updates to the 90.1 – 2022 standard into this presentation. For example, Chapter 11- Additional Efficiency Requirements was added in 2022, and expanded in 2025, more points are required and there are more ways to earn them. 90.1 has been updated to meet the new ASHRAE 62.1 dewpoint requirements. The building envelope is improving along with the 2022 thermal bridging requirements. Lighting is restructured and updated. The new alternate compliance path for mechanical Total System Performance Ratio (TSPR) was added in 2022.
