Course Length: 3 hours
ASHRAE’s Standard 90.1-2016 Energy Standard for Buildings has been established as the commercial building reference standard for state building energy codes in a ruling by the U.S. Department of Energy. Design professionals, code officials and building owners must now keep up with the new, more stringent requirements to comply with this quickly evolving standard.
In 2007, ASHRAE determined that the 2010 version of Standard 90.1 would show a 30% reduction in energy use when compared to the 2004 edition. The 2016 edition added an 8.5% source energy savings and 7.6% site energy savings, for a total of nearly 40% below that required for a 2004-compliant building.
This course describes the new and updated Mandatory and Prescriptive requirements for HVAC and Service Water Heating systems, along with insights on how to comply during building design and construction.
