CPMP Recertification as a BCxP

Recertify as BCxP

To ensure the continued validity and relevance of its Commissioning certification program, beginning with the 2017 class of renewals, ASHRAE’s CPMP program will validate continuing competency against scheme requirements for the Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) certification set forth in the Better Buildings Workforce Guidelines.

These scheme requirements include a short recertification “bridge” exam. While such an exam admittedly is an inconvenience, it was instituted by ASHRAE in order to achieve U.S. Department of Energy recognition of its commissioning certification program and thereby help ensure continued relevance. The bridge exam pass rate is 92%.

CPMPs who renew against these scheme requirements will earn the Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) designation.

For CPMPs, the benefits of recertifying as a BCxP versus applying for the BCxP certification are a shorter exam and a lower application fee.
