ASHRAE certification Practice Exams – CHD, BCxP, BEAP, BEMP, HBDP and HFDP - consist of 30 multiple-choice questions, developed to be similar in terms of content and difficulty to actual Certification exam questions.
Practice exams are one-time use products, available up to 30 days after purchase ($49.00). Once answers have been submitted for scoring, the practice exam no longer may be accessed. There is one practice exam per certification.
Practice exams should not be regarded as a diagnostic tool to assess strengths and weaknesses, nor should it be inferred that performance on a practice exam will mirror performance on the actual certification exam. The utilization of a practice exam is not a requirement for eligibility to sit for a certification exam nor for success in passing a certification exam.
Benefits of Taking a Practice Exam:
- The primary purpose of a Practice Exam is to help candidates become more familiar with certification exam question content, format and difficulty, get a sense of how to time question answering, as well as become more familiar with computer-based testing.
- A percentage correct result will be provided immediately following submission.
- Secondarily, upon submission of Practice Exam question answers, a list of any incorrectly answered questions, only, will be shown on the screen with correct answers indicated.
- Take it in the privacy of your home or office.

Purchase and Access Your ASHRAE Certification Practice Exam
- Create a Test Taker account in Webassessor, using your legal first and last names as they appear on your photo ID (e.g. government issued driver’s license or passport). Notes:
- You will be able to use this same Test Taker account later, when you schedule your certification exam.
- You will need to create an “ASHRAE” Test Taker account, even if you already have a Test Taker account through another credentialing body.
- Log in to your ASHRAE Test Taker account.
- Click on the “Schedule an Exam” tab, and then click on “ASHRAE Practice Exams.”
- Select the Practice Exam you would like to purchase and follow the prompts to complete your purchase. A receipt may be printed onscreen or accessed later from the “Receipts” tab.
- To take your Practice Exam, click on the “My Assessment” tab to get started. Note: Test Takers may log into and out of their Practice Exam on multiple occasions, until which time they submit their answers for scoring. Once answers have been submitted for scoring, the practice exam no longer may be accessed.
