Eric Yang is a Principal and Owner of My Energy LLC, specializing in energy efficiency and performance optimization for complex facilities. Over the past five years, he served as Principal Mechanical Engineer at Vantage Data Centers and Senior Field Mechanical Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he focused on improving the energy performance and operational efficiency of existing data centers.
Eric is an active practitioner in both design and operational energy efficiency. He is actively involved in ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9 (Mission Critical Facilities, Technology Spaces, and Electronic Equipment) and TC 7.6 (Building Energy Performance). Since 2021, he has led the Energy Management Subcommittee of TC 7.6, advancing best practices in building energy management.
Before joining the data center industry, Eric spent over 13 years developing more than $500 million in projects through Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC), with a strong focus on improving the performance of existing buildings. He also worked for SmithGroup, a large architectural and engineering firm in Washington, DC, where he gained early experience in mechanical system design.
Throughout his career, Eric has worked on a wide range of energy retrofit projects, including hospitals, large office buildings, Department of Defense facilities, prisons, data centers, laboratories, and K-12 schools.
He has a strong passion for energy efficiency and specializes in advanced energy analysis, energy modeling, energy audits, smart control technologies, HVAC retrofit strategies, and geothermal system design.
