Artificial intelligence (AI) policy: ASHRAE prohibits the entry of content from any ASHRAE publication or related ASHRAE intellectual property (IP) into any AI tool, including but not limited to ChatGPT. Additionally, creating derivative works of ASHRAE IP using AI is also prohibited without express written permission from ASHRAE.

ASHRAE Monterrey Chapter Celebrates 20th Anniversary,
Continues Technical Mission

The ASHRAE Monterrey Chapter celebrated its 20th anniversary by continuing to share technical information.

Since June 1998, members of the ASHRAE Monterrey Chapter have met for monthly technical sessions on the second Thursday of each month. This past April was no exception.

The Monterrey Chapter entered into its 20th year this April, and the chapter hosted the Congress of Arts and Science HVAC&R amid its anniversary celebrations.

The congress was comprised of eight lectures including a keynote speech by Victor Goldschmidt, Ph.D., Fellow/Life Member ASHRAE, on the advancements in the art of HVAC&R. Goldschmidt urged the attendees to adopt new trends such as sustainability and efficiency to advance the arts and science of HVAC&R to serve humanity and to promote a sustainable world.

The other lectures were:

  • How to improve the efficiency and quality of indoor air in five steps and meet Standard 90.1

  • Mini Chillers: A new option for business class hotels

  • Efficiency in high-performance chillers in compliance with Standard 189.1-2014

  • Power recovery system for handlers

  • Capacitive deionization technology and its application in cooling towers

  • Appropriate selection criteria for an envelope

  • Building management system in HVAC

During the anniversary celebrations, the founding members and former presidents of the Monterrey Chapter were honored. 

Jon Symko, Life Member ASHRAE, Region VIII Director and Regional Chair, and Leo Stambaugh, Life Member ASHRAE, Region VIII Representative, who is known as the “godfather” of the Mexican chapters, traveled to the celebration, said ASHRAE Monterrey Chapter President Eleazar Rivera Mata.
