ASHRAE Standard 55-2017 has adopted new provisions to ensure thermal comfort for occupants exposed to solar radiation indoors. This article discusses Normative Appendix C, which provides the analytical method, and prescriptive and performance-based approaches to compliance that are incorporated within Section 5.3 of the standard.
