Midlands Chapter Hosts Guest Speakers for Finals of MSc Student Paper Competition
At a September 3 luncheon in Loughborough, the UK Midlands Chapter heard Adam Taylor from Well Air speak to “Indoor Air Quality―Regulations and solutions for improvement.” He told the chapter that the importance of air quality has recently gained the attention of the public, but guidance on when and how building services engineers need to address the issue is still lacking. His presentation gave an overview of the issue, to examine existing and emerging guidance and to review solutions available to tackle the problem.
Also speaking was Martin Ronceray of BSRIA. His interactive presentation of “Soft Landing―Delivering buildings that meet end users’ needs” explored the fundamentals behind the Soft Landings approach and an insight on how to achieve the design and construction of a building that actually works well for the occupants and performs as intended.
The speakers were joined by our shortlisted finalists of the chapter’s Open MSc Student Paper Competition. The competition is open to all students from any University with a top prize worth £700 to travel to the ASHRAE 2020 Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida.
