ASHRAE Region-at-Large Raises Awareness for RP Campaign in India

India Chapter Conference Supports ASHRAE RP

From eSociety, January 2019

ASHRAE India Chapter (AIC), in association with ISHRAE and Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd, India, recently held a conference on “Emerging Trends in Green and Efficient Rail Transit Systems.” at Le Meridian Hotel in New Delhi.

ASHRAE Region-at-Large (RAL) director and regional chair (DRC) Ahmed Alaa Eldin, Ph.D., attended the conference.

AIC Research Promotion chair Rajesh Jain organized a special event for campaigning and to raise funding for the ASHRAE RP fund during the conference, in accordance with action items ASHRAE RP set during 2018.
Alaa also held a meeting with representatives of various ASHRAE Chapters in India.

Approximately 350 delegates, speakers and participants ere in attendance at  the conference.

At the end of the conference a “lucky draw” for attendees was hosted by the dignitaries present during the conference. Prizes from the lucky draw were distributed to winners. However, its main purpose was to donate the funds for ASHRAE RP.

Before the lucky draw, a formal RP donor recognition was done in front of all the participants. The donors were recognized with items received from ASHRAE headquarters.

In all, $750 (USD) was received for the ASHRAE RP fund during the two-day conference. The money was submitted to ASHRAE through AIC-Chair Research Promotion as a chapter contribution in late December.

The event was a considered a success for ASHRAE RP fundraising. The chapter recommended that all other ASHRAE Chapters use similar events to raise the funds for ASHRAE RP.
