Call for Members, August 2019

Coils, Residential Thermal Distribution Systems Standards Looking for Members

From eSociety, August 2019

Two methods of testing committees are looking for members representing the user and general interest categories.

SPC 33, Methods of Testing Forced-Circulation Air-Cooling and Air-Heating Coils

The purposes of this standard are to:

  • Describe and specify testing instruments and apparatus.

  • Describe and specify laboratory test methods and procedures.

  • Describe and specify test data to be recorded.

  • Describe and specify calculations to be made from test data.

  • Define terms used in testing.

  • Specify standard thermodynamic properties.

It is not the purpose of this standard to specify the types of tests used for production or field testing.

The standard’s scope is to prescribe laboratory methods of testing forced-circulation air-cooling coils, for application under non-frosting conditions and forced-circulation air-heating coils to ensure uniform performance information for establishing ratings.

SPC 152, Method of Test for Determining the Design and Seasonal Efficiencies of Residential Thermal Distribution Systems

This standard prescribes a method of test to determine the efficiency of space heating and/or cooling thermal distribution systems under seasonal and design conditions. The objective is to facilitate annual energy calculations and heating and cooling equipment capacity calculations.

This standard applies to:

  • Single-family detached and attached residences with independent thermal systems.

  • Air, hydronic, refrigerant and electric distribution systems.
