Dignitaries Celebrate New ASHRAE Pyramids Chapter

Pyramids Chapter Rises in Egypt

From eSociety, January 2019

One of ASHRAE’s newest chapters had an auspicious installation ceremony and an eventful first day of official operation.

On Dec. 17, 2018, in the historical home of the great pyramid, Giza, several ASHRAE dignitaries attended the installation and inauguration of Pyramids Chapter.

Attendees included Darryl Boyce, president-elect of ASHRAE, Ahmed Alaa Eldin, Ph.D., director and regional chair (DRC) of Region-at-Large (RAL).

Also in attendance at the ceremony was Farooq Mehboob, ASHRAE Vice President, as well as Presidential Members Tim Wentz and David Underwood.

The ceremony also featured a diversified audience of Egyptian industry, manufacturers, consultants, contractors, and different categories as well as ASHRAE members. In addition, several RAL officers and leaders from different Chapters took part in the event.

As a side event, Pyramids Chapter signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC), an Egyptian agency affiliated with the country’s Ministry of Housing. Leading that event were Ahmed Abd El Ghani, Pyramid Chapter President, and Maged Fouad, the Chapter’s founder.

On the second day, another MOU has signed with Ahmed Abdel Hamid from Chamber of Building Material, which is part of Federation of Egyptian Industries.

Finally, the Pyramids chapter delegation visited one of the largest manufacturers in Egypt.

While there, they signed a sponsorship agreement, granting Pyramids Chapter funds raised by the sponsor to motivate more students and young engineers from the industry to be members of ASHRAE.
